The Totsys

Kelly aka Tiny Totsy

Our tiny Kelly is also referred to as Tiny-Totsy, short in stature but not in talent! As Mary Poppins once said, she is practically perfect in every way!

Kelly is a trained soprano and has been singing for most of her life.

She has performed in countless local productions, playing leading ladies such as Maria in West Side Story, Mabel in Pirates of Penzance, Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady, Ida in Honk, Sharon in A Slice of Saturday Night and many, many more.

Kelly has also worked as a singer with local bands and groups and can be found outside of Hotsy Totsy singing with pianist Chris Wimhurst at local venues.

Kelly is passionate about Hotsy Totsy and three part harmony and loves being a member of this retro contemporary girl group. She has a penchant for vintage music and loves Caro Emerald.

Kelly also teaches Singing classes for Page Mason dance school and privately.

Rachel aka Mama Totsy

Rachel is also known as Mama Totsy, having brought us together, she also runs the band and keeps us organised!

Rachel has been singing since she was 7 years old, after her trumpet tutor encouraged her to sing a solo in the Kent Music School Christmas Concert and she has been singing ever since.

Her background is predominately in Musical Theatre, where she has performed in over 50 local productions, taking on lead roles such as "Nellie Forbush" in South Pacific and "Sally Bowles" in Cabaret.

In 2001, Rachel joined a local girl group, "Essence", they released a charity single and performed as a support band for "Atomic Kitten".

In 2011, Rachel joined the Kingsdown Band as a singer and gigged around Kent for a year, she still occasionally joins them now for a dep gig or two every year. In 2012, Rachel won Thanet's Make Me A Star competition and performed live on the Academy FM radio.

Outside of Hotsy Totsy, Rachel teaches Singing and Musical Theatre classes at Silver Slipper Performing Arts School and is Singing Teacher for Joseph Hodges Performing Arts Academy.

Victoria aka Soul Totsy

Victoria is often called our Soul Diva, but to us she is Soul Totsy. With her raspy tones and penchant for the Soul legends, there is no name better suited.

Victoria started singing before she could talk, according to her Mum and Dad. She has always had a great interest in music, studying at Astor College For The Arts, and Theatre Studies & Dance, at Canterbury College.

Whilst at College, she was involved in many productions and played the Saxophone & Clarinet in the main school band and also the school jazz band.

After moving to Thanet, she joined local theatre groups and has been involved in many productions, she has played lead roles such as Hope in Anything Goes, Rizzo in Grease and Anita in West Side Story.

She has always wanted to sing with a real band after getting the bug for gigs when she was younger. It was in 2011 that Victoria joined The Kingsdown Band and she has been one of their lead singers ever since.

Hotsy Totsy combines Vicky's love of singing and slick harmonies!

Dep Totsys

Tara aka Chatty Totsy

It's true to say that without our Chatty Totsy our gigs would be a lot less interesting. With her quick wit and fabulous smile, Tara is overflowing with charisma and charm.

Tara originally joined us as a dep whilst Vicky was on maternity leave and sings at any given opportunity, even in her sleep so we're told!

After leaving college, Tara worked in a variety of holiday parks across the country as a children's entertainer, skin character and cabaret vocalist, moving to Kent in 2000 to "be a grown up".

Never quite able to leave performing behind, she has been involved with a number of local theatre groups and was delighted to be asked to join Hotsy Totsy.

Tara runs her own entertainment business which includes being a solo artist, children's entertainer and DJ. In her spare time, she can be found running around after her two beautiful children.
